I think liberals need to be reminded their party wasn't sent down to earth on a cloud from heaven. As a public service, I think it's our duty to remind them of the shortcomings of their beloved cult...er, I mean party. Since they bray on constantly about Mr. Bush's challenges (both real and waaaaaaaay out there), we should offer equal time and space to share our thoughts on the subject.

Hello Jim W: I used the words "poopy pants" to describe the tantrum you folks will surely have when a Republican wins the presidency in 2008. I merely answered the fellow YA'ers question.

Hello kreevich: If I don't use the word Democrat to identify the politiical party, what word would you have me use? It IS the common word used to describe that group of individuals, you know. I guess I could have used the name of the animal that is ASSociated with the dems, but that would be mean.

Hello Chris B: We already do. They're called Democrats.

Hello John J: Apparently not only can you not decide which side of the fence you are on, but you also cannot read. I asked for DEMOCRAT'S failures. Believe me, there are many. Just with Mr. Clinton's administration alone, it would fill volumes. We won't even begin to look at Mr. Carter's stint in the White House.

Hello answer "man": You know, if you would have RESPECTFULLY presented your little nugget, I would have been happy to comment on it. Since you didn't, you can stfu.

Hello jirwin: Excellent list! Since our good friend Jim W here decided to present the opposing view of my query, perhaps you'd like to add your two cents on his question also.

Oh my, coming up with a list of failures would be far too time consuming. Even if we eliminate those that are recognized only through hindsight such as some of the decisions made by the Clinton administration regarding terrorist activites the democrats still have primarily a failing record in almost every area.

I believe their biggest failures (as well as their few successes) fall in the area of social spending. In general spending far too much money on programs that produce little or no positive result. Without being too alarmist the one that keeps coming to mind is the Social Security system. Of course one also then thinks of the medicare/medicaid system, welfare/AFDC, and so on. Most of this can be characterized as the belief that throwing money at social problems will somehow solve them.

Another major failure that comes to mind as it generates strong memories is the democrats getting us into Vietnam and the republicans getting us out.

No, this is too depressing to think about... I'd rather try to think of something positive...how about the GI BIll? Civil rights act?

Taking 4 weeks to respond to North Carolina in 1998-1999 when a category 2 huricane hit. Talk about a slow response.

Failing to balance the budget and giving us a paper stating it was.

Not responding to the 1993 WTC bombing,

Not responding the Cole attack,
not responding to the Embassy bombings in the mid 90's.
Pulling our troops out of Somalia,
getting involved in Bosnia and claiming our boys would be home by Christmas, not sure which year that will be though as they are still there. Maybe this year?

Giving North Korea Nuclear Technology and believing they would not develope nukes.

Telling us that Saddam had WMD's so they could keep the UN food for oil program in place.

Not supporting the Iran Government in the 70's and allowing a coup to happen that installed a religous nut in power.

Giving us the war on poverty, how many more billions do we have to spend for the same people to stay in poverty?

I think that is a decent enough list.

Just remember, Hilary Clinton was supposed to have fixed health care and health insurance almost 16 years ago. That hasn't happened yet.

Neither party is perfect. I honestly think that most politicians try their best but are corrupted by the power and stymied by the bureaucracy.

I can't name any because when they loose they claim moral victory. Also all they do is platform for what they are for and don't act, Or have innovating ideas. I guess we need a party who's sole purpose is to throw mud at those who really get things done.

I was referring to the democratic party. or the DOP (Damned Old Party).

And I agree with Leah both parties have problems I just hope Newt wins in 08 and renews conservative ideals.

actually, as a liberal, I consider this to be somewhat insulting. I am neither a democrat nor a republican. More democrats than republicans are liberal (meaning, in part, open minded), but this doesn't mean that liberal = democrat (or for that matter that republican = conservative).

As far as Democrat failures, I can name fewer recent failures than I can name Republican failures. Most Democrat failures are not so much failures of implimentation (as the Republican ones are), but failure to get it to the floor of Congress for a vote, but this is because the Republicans in control of Congress are being obstructionist.

Republican failures include: Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, No Child Left Behind, balanced budget (or lack thereof), energy policies (or lack thereof), Prescription Drug Plan, etc.

we will have this conversation when democrats are in power...right now, the republicans control ALL branches of government...and they get NOTHING done. All mistakes made will be firmly placed on them.

Funny, that ALL of the mistakes dems have made are being compared to the mistakes of just one president, and he is STILL seated! Many more mistakes to come, I'm sure

Just one, allowing George Bush to take office when he stole the first election. That was a bad mistake by the democrats just look at the results of it. So many bad decisions that I would need an extra sheet to list them all.

If you want to talk about Parties that think they have a mandate from God, it's the REPUBLICANS, not the Democrats.

By the way, using "Democrat" as an adjective, as you did, is not only ungrammatical, it smacks of the same contempt as using "Jew" as an adjective. You are directly or indirectly copying the usage of Joe McCarthy.

Here's an interesting little report. Care to discuss it?
Of course not. You won't even bother to read it.
If you did, defend it.
