Work is not an excuse to not show up to court. There really is no excuse to not sow up. You can write a letter asking for more time (a continuance), but you will need to show good cause. Work is usually not good cause unless you are a truck driver or work in some type of field that requires travel and even then you usually have a minimum of one month notice before your court date so that is usually not an excuse either, it depends on the judge. You will need to come up with a very good excuse for a continuance. There is no way of getting out of court period unless it is a violation that you can pay a fine or attend traffic school and be done with it. I am sure this is not the answer you wanted and I could have lied to you, but that would not be of any help to you.

It's almost always possible to get a postponement. Write to the clerk of the court, confirming a telephone conversation that you have first.

Driving while suspended may be serious in your jurisdiction. If that is the case, get a lawyer to appear for you.

It is, I know, gratuitous and does not help you. But I never cease to be amazed that people speed when they are driving with a suspended license.

You need to be there or have a lawyer be there, a letter to the judge is not going to cut it I can promise you unless you live in Mayberry. If you dont show up, you will be given at least extra fines if not a warrant out for your arrest for failure to comply. I am not aware of many bosses who wont let you off of work to go to court, they pretty much have too!!

You can. But a better idea is to talk with an attorney who can give you legal advice.

If you do send a letter, you might want to consider asking either the court or the local prosecutor to set up a time to reschedule the trial. They will generally be more open to that.

you can call the court clerk and ask for an extension to appear on the ticket, or you can request night court in a lot of places.
