Is the media wanting to distract us from what is really important in our life or do they simply think they have exhausted the news on the war efforts?

Don't get me wrong here. I just wanted to know what people think about it. I for one am tired of hearing about the war and wish we'd pull the troops out and just drop a few nukes on those idiots. I hate to say it, but few of them are worth saving and the ones that are will end up in heaven anyway. If I were surrounded by a bunch of morons like the Iraqis I would want the bomb dropped on me.

Steve was the ultimate educator for all ages on wildlife, love, energy, entusiasm for life, do what brings you joy. His eyes twinkled when he spoke. He was not a comedian, but he didn't care if the last laugh was on him. His effervescent spirit was a delight to experience. He was himself, he never tried to be anything else. Power, property & prestige? I believe he was above that. Why not honor him? This is not a distraction, this is a loss to millions who need to grief for our Austrailian Warrior.
God Bless you on your travel to the greater outback. Terry & your 2 children will be lifted up in love while here on earth.

I believe neither.
The media knows that we know the war is still going on, and the war, although very important, is not the only event going on in the world.
In this question "Steve Irwin's death" could be replaced with anything, even "Israeli troops drop more bombs in Lebanon" which some people may think is more important anyway.
Its the media's job to give us all the news, or as most as feasible.

Are you seriously comparing Irvins death to a fluff story meant to distract us!!!!!! Or might the man be in the news due to his immense contributions to supporting and saving wildlife? Have you not gotten enough on the war yesterday to carry you through. Here is the war effort news for you that you must have missed....... We are still there, fighting continues, no end in sight. In other news a man who dedicated his life to improving conditions on the plant so a myriad wildlife could survive and flourish was taken from this earth in freak accident.

Steve Irwin was a conservationist and showed the world how animals are. You are aware that without him...many more species would be extinct??
I believe he deserves some coverage. And anyways, itll only be news for a week or so. The war will be news for years to come.

The war has been going on for a while now and is considered old news. The media now has to focus on recent happenings and Steve Irwin's death is just that.

It has nothing to do with war, you can only make so many reports on the war. Steve was a great guy it seemed and his death was a shock to many.

The war is not nearly as exciting as a man we all know getting speared through the heat by a poisoned sting ray barb! Creicky! Put me heart on the barb!
