You will need to size down each frame of the animation. Photoshop image ready is a good program to do this in.

You can download a free trial of photoshop from adobe's website (trial is for 30 days) and it comes with image ready.

Might be easier to ask the creator of the image if they have a sized down version of the blinkie or have a friend with photoshop do this for you. Good luck!

An animated gif is made of up many pictures that are quickoy switched by your computer to give the illusion of movement. To edit (or crop) an animated gif, you have to have a gif editor that will break the animation down into its individual frames. (So the first posting for an editor).

You would then have to take each of the individual frames and crop them one at a time to the new size. You have to be careful because if you do not get one of the frames perfectly cropped, it wall cause the picture to "jump" at the point.

Once done, you would have to recompile the gif. Hopefully the timing for each frame is the same (and will have to figure out that timing), otherwise you will have to set a different timing for each frame. Put the pictures back in order, and resave the gif.

Once down, you will have your newly resized animation.

Have fun...

LOL & right after you download software to do it, you will quickly see it is not worth the hasstle. A gif is not an image, it is a series of images that give the illusion of motion by going through the series at a fast pace (like cartoons drawn on paper & then flipping through the sheets of it). So you do not have to edit one, you have to edit them all.... Just use the the gif in your signature section of the forum (which has no size limit) & be done with it.

You can strip the animation, get all the images seperate and crop them.
Try using Macromedia Fireworks(does all) or Irfan view(just crops images).
