JRP is a big ripoff. There have been many news reports about the organization. Stay far, far away. Don't believe me? Check out their BBB profile (or one of them, at least) at a location near me.

Instead, try an acting class at a community college. You'll get better training, meet like-minded people, and won't waste money giving it to these scammers.

No. No. No. Do NOT use them. First and foremost, this is a modelling school. Don't trust any school that makes you sign a contract and pay them outrageous fees. JRP is awful! A friend of mine got roped into them, and she never got a job and was out several hundred dollars.

Quite honestly, you generally can't audition for those shows unless you live in the area in which they are shot. And then, you can only get those auditions if you have an actual agent and TONS of experience. Make sure that you do as many local theatre plays as possible. Look under "talent agents" in the yellow pages, and have a parent (and possibly a lawyer) go talk to them with you. You interview THEM.

Look for acting schools in your area. Just because they have several locations does not mean they are any good. Since you want to be an actress, you probably have actor friends--ask around about good places to take classes. If your school has a theater program, enroll in that. Experience is key if you want to A) get an audition and B) get cast. There are many directors/producers who will not cast you simply based on lack of experience.

If you want to be taken seriously as an actor, do NOT go to John Robert Powers. They are NOT a recognized acting school and you will NOT be taken seriously as an actor.

You must study acting at a university or a tradional acting school.

If you need the names of acting schools, call the Theater Department of the Universities in the city where you live and ask to speak to the head of the Drama Departmetn, ask him or her to give you names of acting schools and acting teachers. Also, ask your parents to call the Community Theaters in your city, to find good acting classes.

Acting schools vary in cost. You have to go to the school and meet with the acting instructors. The cost depends on where you live. In large cities, such as New York, acting classes are expensive.

Again, don't give money to John Robert Powers if you are serious about being a performer.

Acting schools have one location. If you need multiple locations to study acting, forget it, that is not how acting is taught. You go to one location and typically study with one acting teacher.

It takes years of study to become an actor. It may take you five more years before you are ready to audition for television.

DO NOT GO TO JOHN ROBERT POWERS (they are a scam!)
