Without question the golden period for American popular music was 1964-1973. That was a time when music broke a lot of new creative ground, always trying new sounds and new elements. Music then was more than idle entertainment or a cash cow for the performers, it was an implicit challenge to the mainstream of society, and an implicit articulation of alternatives. It was a reflection of and a catalyst for social change. I wish music today were only half as relevant.

The Best and by far the most missed had to be the 80's!!!!!!! Michael Jackson. Madonna, the Jets, Paula Abdul, Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam, Kool & the Gang ,New Edition, to name a few, it was awesome sweet music all who cared to lend an ear could relate to, above all the artists sang about LOVE! I have to ask... "Where is the Love people??? Most of todays music is rap that includes videos with half naked women and cursing and negativity. Sending out messages that it's ok to be RUDE and Obnoxious! What is happening???? :(
