Shock mostly.
Some of the people around me were very upset indeed.
I was in college at the time and there was a big move to change one of our on-campus parks to be named after him.
It didn't happen.

My oldest sister (6 years older than me) and I were lying down on a bed together listening to a Detroit radio station. The song got interrupted and it was announced that John Lennon had just been fatally shot by a deranged fan outside of his NYC apartment and that he was rushed to the hospital. My sister & I started crying immediately.
We grew up listening to the Beatles our whole lives because of our older brothers. So, we were deeply impacted when this happened. We still mourn this loss today.

I remember not only John Lennon, but I remember when the Beatles first started out. John Lennon was not my favorite, but he certainly didn't deserve to be murdered either. I remember being shocked when I heard. His murderer should have been executed. He's in a nuthouse, isn't he? I don't think he was insane; I think he was just evil.

I was an 18 year old newlywed. The alarm clock went off (clock radio) and my husband got out of bed to get ready for work. By the time he came out of the bathroom, I was still in bed sobbing. It was quite shocking to us both. He also joined me in my crying.
I think it was probably the first tragedy of my adult life. I was young when my grandparents died, and really not affected by that. But John Lennon's death hit me hard. To this day most of his songs bring me to tears.

I was eight years old, and I think I was too young to really understand what John Lennon and his music meant to people. Now I have a much better understanding of it.

I bear in mind. i replaced right into a clean Christian on the time and someone informed me he had basically at present made a fact about how human beings did not choose Jesus. I wasn't chuffed or unhappy. i replaced into type of bowled over, it really is all. I also bear in mind the day Elvis died. That had more effective of an effect on me.

I remember when K.Cobain killed himself, and he was mourned by the moronic masses as the voice of a generation. John Lennon was truly the voice of my generation. I was severely saddened and angry.
