I have four children. They are four, six, seven, and fifteen. I have no clue what to do anymore. I have a job making fourteen dollars an hour and work a lot of over time. Since I got my raise I no longer qualify for Medicad or food stamps. My kids NEED insurance. I don’t know what to do anymore. Before I was able to get help but now it seems the more money I make the harder it gets. I need help getting on my feet but it seems like there is no help out there. Anyone with advice of where to go for help or with experience please answer. I really appreciate all the help. Thank You!

My husband passed away three years ago. He is the father to all the children (legally: he adopted my fifteen year old daughter.)

Well, before I read your story I thought this was a political question...."What can the Government do?" and my answer was going to be "Not very much that's good I'm afraid".

Since I see that you are not making a political comment but a personal appeal for advice, my answer is the same.

You see, no one can care for your responsibilities like you yourself.

And you seem to be doing a damn good job of it, from what you indicate. You have four kids and you are busting your butt to provide for them. Good for you!

I don't know what state you live in, but many states offer child healthcare plans for those in your situation that's federally and state funded. Here in Texas it's called Chip.

You have to pay, but it's less than a private carrier would charge.

There is almost no one in the US today without access to medical care. Every county has hospitals, clinics and mobile services, most all of it funded by the federal government. The "healthcare crisis" that is the favorite fodder of politicians is just campaign rhetoric. Anyone, anywhere in this country has medical care.

You should call someome from your local county government to find out about how you get your kids to see a doctor without Medicare. They will know if your state has a program like Chip.

I don't know specifics but I do know there is a WIC program which gives you free milk and other things. My guess would be to call Dept of Social Services and ask them what programs they have or know of that could help a single mother

I know that there is programs for single mothers if you have never been married. The government only helps the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I would find the fathers of your children. I assume your female.
The ones who planted the seed of your discontent should be held accountable.
