IE7 is in the near final Pre-release stage now. Yes there have been many improvements. It has tabbed browsing and the security features have been updated and upgraded.
Firefox and IE7 are about equal these days according to all the tech reports I have read. Firefox did have some claims to fame that IE7 didn't have six months ago or so, but that is not the case any longer.
Additionally, if you want to use the Microsoft Update feature for XP or to download other Microsoft items you will need Internet Explorer (any version).
The regular toolbar does not show when you download IE7 but is easily turned on by clicking on Tools (way over on the right hand side), and then Menu Bar. This will make the familiar tool bar items available. i.e. File; Edit; View; Favorites; Tools; Help
I feel it is every bit as good as FireFox but I still use both.

I don't; I use Mozilla Firefox!
Blocks pop-ups and then you can choose to see them or not!
Mozilla Firefox is much better but sometimes it's good to have Internet Explorer for some things.
I haven't used Internet Explorer for months!
If you want to try Mozilla Firefox use this website (need to download)

I wouldnt recommend it. The tool bar has disappeared and it takes some time getting used to. the only improvement is probably the phising filter.

I'm w/bigdude; I use Firefox and love it! IMO, anything that has both the words "Microsoft" and "beta" in it should be avoided at all costs!
