The muslims believe in one God almighty and Muhammed is His messenger and also that everyone else is an infidel or non-believer. As such their ummah or congregation either converts you or disposes you (use your imagination or read the newspapers on how they do that). Few muslims are moderate or modern enough to actually live harmoniously with peoples of other creeds, religions and beliefs.

Sikhs on the other hand are sort of a sect or tribe that believe in a sage that appeared long ago and taught them how to live in harmony with one and all and principly being a good fellow. You really cannot just become a sikh as you would a muslim by mere conversion as it seems more a tribal than religion thing. So you are a sikh or you are not; as you will find it most diffucult to become one along the way.

Islam is a great religion with wonderful teachings but its ummah interpretation of its teachings today are bias, outdated and totally irresponsible with almost complete disregard for it true spirit.

Sikhism remains true to its original calling for a life of honour and goodwill towards all mankind.

Anyway, I'm no professor know it all; and the above is just my own opinion.

Sikhism & Islam-ism are totally different religions, But Islam-ism has been practiced for longer time and have their origins from Cenral Asia. Whereas, Sikhism is still a young religion as compared to Islam. Sikhs were initially Hindus that formed a new Religion. But both the religions show similarities when it comes to a few Religious practicise (only a few). I'd say Google and Wikipedia are the best answers to your question. XD

Both completely different faiths, although with quite a bit in common - monotheistic, generally pacifist (yes, really!), those sort of things. Don't call a Sikh a Muslim, though, as they are required to carry a knife as part of their religion...
