You should go see your doctor. Most docs will go to the next step of fertility treatment after you have been trying for a year. Are your cycles regular? If not then mostly likely you are not ovulating. Your doctor may give you clomid to help induce ovulation. But it will also be helpful to talk to your doc to make sure everything else is in check. They will probably go over the best times to time intercourse. Good luck! Make sure you are also taking vitamins with folic acid! That's very important!

They say after a year ttc on your own with no luck, you should seek a professional. I would make an appointment with your OB first. It could be something as simple as finding out if/when you ovulate and if you ovulate regularly. Clomid is a very common fertility drug that helps with ovulation. Even if your insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments, something simple like Clomid is very inexpensive. They have generic versions. I pay about $15/mo. at Costco (which you do not need a membership for to get Rx). It could also be something simple, like a hormone imbalance, which routine blood tests can determine. Good luck.

The Board of ob/gyns recommends that a couple seek treatment after 1 year of trying if the woman is under age 35 and after 6 months of trying if age 35 or over. Also, you should seek treatment immediately if you have reason to suspect pregnancy would be difficult for reasons such as--irregular cycles, pcos, endometriosis, history of pelvic inflamatory disease or stds.

Why not now, it does not hurt to get checked out and see if either one of you have a problem. Most likely not, just unlucky so far, but hey it can't hurt to get checked out. Or you can do like my Sister in law did and adopt a child after trying for 5 years, and then boom with in a month of the adoption, she gets pregnant.

I have always heard that after trying a year, you should talk to a doctor to make sure everything is ok with you and your SO.
