Don't take them down.
Use a almost dry cloth and wipe down the front of the blinds. Start on top and wipe down in stripes.
Turn the blades on the blinds in reverse and wipe down in the same fashion from inside the window. You'll have to reach.
This only works if you have dust, not caked on dirt.
This can be a little time consuming, but is by far the quickest and most efficient way to dust your blinds.

I wish I could help but the only advice I can give is to take them down and throw them out. The are - perhaps - the ugliest design innovation in all of recorded history. (Read Butt Ugly) Sorry. You can go to a discount store and buy one plain sheet and one pattern sheet and sew them together and turn over the top and sew a place for curtain rod to go thru. This is one place where horizontal stripes are nice. (Never with the horizontal stripes on your clothes) For a few dollars you have a nice door cover that is easy to put up and take down and is washable. Using sheets as they charge an arm and a leg for ugly curtains nowadays.

Once, you start this you will never stop. It is more practical to throw them away and buy new ones or go for the class like intelligent says go for the drapes. Trust me I clean houses for a living. These blinds are the worst.

I have taken blinds down and cleaned them, but they never come 100%. If you insist, you can slide out the holders on the top corners, lift them out, clean them in the tub and put them back.
It's cheaper and easier to buy new ones.

I would have to agree with inteligent. Take them down and throw them away. Why do you want you house to look like a doctor's office? They go with nofurniture style at all.
Buy nice draperies or curtains and nice rods too. And curtains can be washed and ironed.

You can buy a device to clean each blade all at once w/o having to take them down. Check out Wal-Mart.

Take them down and put in a bathtub of water. It works great and just take them outside to dry.

Across the top...the piece that runs across your window or door top is where they detach. If you get up there and look they just kinda "pop" into clips up there...You just unclip em from the top and wash em, then slap them back on.

Just wipe them. It's a lot easier than horizontal, which I have.
