How is it, in a technologically advanced society, such as this one, we still endorse the torture of animals in the name of science? How can these people look into the eyes of these poor creatures and not see that they feel pain and fear?

People seem to feel that since we are the "dominant" species" that we have the rights over all living things on this Earth.

Anyone as disgusted with animal experimentation as I am?

I have a lot of mixed emotions regarding this issue. I am an animal lover. I have more respect for animals than I do for humans, simply because they do not possess the same judgments we humans do. Humans haven't begun to learn what unconditional love is. I think many of us try, but I don't think we've pulled it off the way dogs have.

To answer your question, I do think it's cruel. I don't think they're doing much with these animals, considering the amount that are locked up in labs. AIDS and CANCER are still present without cures. However, some of these research centers use animals for the benefit of humans and other animals. It's a tough call to make. I couldn't do that work, but I cannot completely deny it's benefits to the human race and various animal species. Animal medicine has advanced due to some of these labs, therefore I cannot place a personal ban on all of them.

testing things on animals is natural, how do you think the first people in a new land or area new what was good to eat or not? by watching what the other animals ate. same thing just on a different playing field we don't just play with sticks and rocks anymore you know. just think of all the diabetics who would be dead right now. And how come all you animal rights freaks only care about the "cute" ones anyway. What about the millions of lobsters that are boiled alive everyday and all the fish we just yank out of the water and throw on ice "after" chopping there friggin' heads off ? what they don't matter cuz they aren't cute and fuzzy? how about some consistency???
don't get me wrong though i don't condone torturing the poor bastards but if giving a rat cancer to try to find a cure is gonna save my grandma or my kid, then giver' hell.....

You eat Meat?... An Yummy hamburger or a scrumptious pink meat tendor loin?. i'm asking you because an excellent variety of human beings communicate merely like you even as munching poultry lollipop. in case you do, then first ingredient you opt to do is to change right into a strict vegitarian. that would make a huge difference. extra: that's no longer about 'torture' or 'soreness'. that's about life one has to imagine. life has a larger meaning. to locate it, merely imagine of your life. you're eliminating someone's' life to fulfill your favor (starvation for this reason) that would were quite fulfilled through somethingelse. i do not connect the stupid argument that it really is alright to eat the animals as long as they don't conflict through with soreness. through affirming so, we are only being hypocractical. what's the variety between the 'life' of someone and the 'life' of a poultry?

That would depend on the type of testing. Animal testing for medicines and treatments for diseases are sometimes necessary to determine how living tissue will react to the drugs and therapies. Models don't always accurately predict the outcome. However, with the advanced models that we have, the animal testing can be reduced to a minimum.

As for the animal testing of cosmetics and other products that aren't related to the medical field, I don't think that they are necessary.

I disagree, millions of animals save billions of lives. Animals are just that. I have no problem eating a steak or hot dog. I love to hunt rabbits and I will never allow you to say that it is wrong. I remember as a child that when we set down to dinner we always blessed the food. Life giving food. That is probably the thing to do as animals sacrafice so that we as humans can live out our lives.

I agree. The only thing that you can do is try to purchase products that are not tested by animals, the only problem with that is how do you actually know. There are so many bums on the street in the US and we are taking care of people in other countries other than the ones on our own soil, why can't we use the bums for testing or the people on death row. They are going to die anyways. Society and politics are stupid.

People can't even get along with their own species, and treat other humans with respect. How do you have any hope that they'll treat animals with respect, when animals are still considered property?
