It takes two to tango, and Castro don't much care to dance either. There's also the issue of the huge Cuban voting block here in the US, ensuring that politicians that want their vote must be anti-Castro.

Because Castro refuse to become a capitalist country. Big business controls our government decisions, if they are not benifiting , watch out!
We will like to think that Castro is this wicked dictator, pure propaganda. Cubans has one of the best education systems and medical for its citizens. In America only the ones with money can acheive certain benefits. In Cuba the class system is removed and every one is considered equal.
In America if someone fights against the goverment or even tried to overthrow it, or give its secrets away, they will be tried for tresom and may even be put to death. Whats the difference? Not much!
Soon America is heading for a tolat police state, so instead of america influencing the world the world is influencing America.

The U.S. has " normal " relations with China because China is a big country that is also a major world market. Where does the U.S. get all of their cheap clothes and toys? China. So when it comes about China and Cuba and accepting the Communist regime , the U.S. knows that it can receive many advantages if (the U.S.) trades with China. That is why the U.S. doesn't accept the Castro regime in Cuba.Cuba isn't a big economy .....unlike China.

Florida has a lot of electoral votes, so politicians from both parties pander to the insane Cuban refugee population down there by keeping up this joke of an embargo.

Can you say 'Bay of Pigs'? Check up on that. This is been ongoing forever. Besides - you can count on one finger the number of allies that Bush has now. Even Tony Blair is distancing himself, realizing he made a gigantic error. He almost lost the last election because of the decision to throw his lot in with Bush - and does he ever regret it now.

That is a very good question, but it is not only the US. Cuba and its citizens want nothing to do with the US either.

Because while Castro keeps a "peaceful country" he tolerates no opposition and has used harsh punishments and long imprisonments to enforce his leadership.

Because the US government makes up the rules as it goes along, and does whatever it wants because there are few countries with the economic or military might to stop it.
