This may be a silly response, but WHY? are you writing paper checks at all? In this day and age of identity theft, the BEST solution is two-fold.

a) use a debit card wherever you shop with a PIN number and change your PIN every once in a while. You save time in line, don't have to show your driver's lincese, don't allow them to write-down unnecessary info, etc.

b) then, almost all banks offer online check-writing. You just enter the name of who you want to pay into your secure banking "address book" and then issue a bank check directly to the vendor (no paper check, no envelope, stamp, etc)

Yes, you get copies of all this on your banking statement, but avoid the cost of the checks....Ok, so maybe you have to maintain a small savings accout to get this feature from your bank, but shop around. I'll bet your bank will give you free online check printing if you push them....

I don't know about the internet (I know they are on there but I don't know if they offer the special over the internet) but there is a company called Designer Checks and they put cupons in the news papers and junk mail for your first purchase only you get like 4 boxes of duplicate checks for $20 and there are all kinds of cool ones to choose from. I did that and a year later when I ran out I found another company called Delux Checks (I think) and they had the same special 4 boxes for $20. You could try just calling them and saying that you heard about the special and they will probably just give you the special but go online first and find which picture you want on your checks. Oh and mine came with free labels.
