Look at it this way:
Say you have a small bowl of jello and a very large bowl of jello, both just mixed and ready to gel. You want to put fruit in both bowls. If you use the same amount of fruit in both bowls, the larger bowl will have less fruit per unit of serving than the smaller one. Thus the effect of the size container (body) affects the concentration or dispersment of the fruit (medicine). To equally affect both bowls you must compensate for the size of the bowls/amount of jello. In the same way, to have a good affect on the body sometimes the a medicine has to be adjusted for the size of the person.

The body weight of a person can sometimes prevent the proper absorption of certain medications. It can also mean that certain medications may need to be given higher or lower doses depending on a persons weight. Only on doctors advice of course.

There's more area for the medicine to work on, it gets diluted by the greater quantity of blood in a heavier person thus they will require a higher dosage
