Hi all. In the past seven months I got a new Director at work. I seem to have immediately caught her attention, for I got several high profile assignments from her, and some cream training abroad. However, I also attracted some sinister comments, and I know some bad feeling from workmates. I believe its because I put in lots of quality work that she chose me. Now I seem to be at crossroads on how to handle this. My gut feeling is that I should ignore the sad guys at work, but I know there is something like office politics in all orgarnisations and that it is not the best player who wins always. So, how do I handle this office politics but still keep the approval of the Director and yet not get her into this politics.? Thank you mates.

Unfortunately, jealous co-workers can make your working situation uncomfortable, but look at the bright side of things - your work relationship with your director has taken off and you are being put in the spotlight. Keep your mind on your work.

I always tell my employees that have jealous co-workers that you are at work to work - not to make friends. It is your paycheck that you take home at the end of day - not theirs. They need to be concerned with their own work ethic. If you loose "friends" over a workload promotion then they are immature and don't deserve your time.

As a go-gettter, you will always attract negative feelings from others due to their jealousy. There will always be those that can't take a look in the mirror and see what they are lacking in. It's easier for them to blame it on others. You just have to decide if you want to continue to move forward in your career, or if you want office politics to get in the way. If they can't be happy for you getting opportunities then they are not mates and you shouldn't worry about what they say or think.

Think about yourself and your career. You know your colleagues areonly upset becaus eit isn't them. In other words, they are only looking out for themselves anyways.
It is good to hear that there are people out there with good work ethic!

"cream training" sounds pretty dubious.
