It's probably just left over from your period. When it's brown it mean it's old blood so it's probably from your period.

Well, if your period is 5-7 days long and you finished about 5 days ago, that would put you at day 10-12 of your cycle. You could be ovulating soon. In which case, it sounds like cervical mucus mixed with some old blood. Perhaps it is residual blood from your period, but was too small of an amount to come out on it's own and was brought out by the cervical mucus. If it continues, call your OBGYN. They should be able to tell you over the phone if it's cause for concern and should be checked out.

It probably means that you will be ovulating soon. The brown color of the mucus is due to old blood still coming from your uterus. The fact that the mucus is stretching indicates that it has thinned out considerably as it does when ovulation occurs. I would guess that the old blood is from the egg bursting out of the ovary leaving a little bit of blood behind that made its way to your cervical mucus. It does seem a little early for you to be starting your ovulatory cycle at day 5, but maybe you are just having a weird month. Is it possible that you had intercourse that may have created a little bit of bleeding?

Sounds like old period blood mixed with a little bit of pre-ovulation discharge. Take a bath and wash up really good and give yourself a little while it should go away. If it continues call your gynocologist and talk to a nurse.
