AL East: Yankees lead by 9.
AL Central: Tigers lead by 5.
AL West: Athletics lead by 6.5.
NL East: Mets lead by 15.
NL Central: Cardinals lead by 6.

The only three playoff spots seemingly up-for-grabs are the NL West and the two wild cards (what a surprise). Will any of these three become a definite by mid-September or will these races go all the way down the stretch?

Well, the White Sox and Twins are both still a threat to Detroit in the AL Central, so I wouldn't pencil that in just yet.

The wild cards in both leagues look like they will be a dogfight. Especially in the NL, where none of the wild card contenders are really that impressive. So it's hard to imagine one of them getting hot and pulling away.

It looks clear, but there is still plenty of baseball left to play.

I think The Mets are the only definite team.

The yankees "appear" to have it, but now that Boston has Veritek Nixon and Manny back they will make a solid run at it. 9 games back may look they are done, but teams have come back form further back and won. September will be a very interesting month of baseball.

Oakland plays hard in September, but the Angels aren't done yet.

It doesnt matter who wins in the NL because they will get thier butts whooped in The World Series.

The Tigers only have a 5 game lead, and it could disappear quickly. I do think The Tigers hold on and win The Central.

The Tigers have proven they are NOT a fluke.

The AL wild card will go down to the last game of the season.

I think the last blurry playoff spots will indeed go to the wire. I think the Dodgers will hold on to the NL West, the Twins will grab the AL Wildcard, and the Padres will grab the NL Wildcard

The Tigers could falter, don't be suprised if they get caught by the White Sox or the Twins. That could happen.
I am pulling for Florida in the NL for the wild card.

Look for another subway series.
Mets Vs. Yanks (round 2). Expect the METS to come out champs, embarrasing the Yanks.
