1st thing : buy a reliance India calling card. You can buy it online using Credit card.
2nd thing : Register a phone, get a pin code online and understand their time saving tips.
3rd : call their toll free number, then dial out either your registered number and pin and finally the number 91-172-xxxx
If you are calling from the registered phone itself you can dial the number straightaway.

The best way to call anywhere abroad is a card. There are instructions over there. But the thing you need to know and dial in order is: the code of India country (you can find it at any store where they sell phone cards), then the code of city (in San Diego it is 619 for example), then you dial the number itself.

You should buy a phone card, you can call anywhere. There are instructions on the back of it. You just have to put a couple of numbers before your friends number. You can get them in most grocery stores. Good luck getting in touch!
