Ever since I installed Photoshop, there has been an icon on my taskbar that I do not want there. It resembles a digital camera with a red X in the lower left-hand corner. I simply must get rid of this icon as it does not provide any functionality I would ever desire to use, yet I cannot figure out how.
Since I know there are assholes who'll just say "close the application!" let me make this perfectly clear: This is the one-hundredth and thirty-second time I've done so. I'm sick of it!

It seems I wasn't clear - the ICON has a red X in the lower left hand corner of it's image. The icon itself is on the lower right-hand side of my screen.

If this is on the quick launch bar just delete the shortcut. If it is in the taskbar area, then use msconfig or another startup manager to disable the task from starting. This sounds like a tool for unloading pictures from a camera and can be started when you need it instead of at startup.

Ok, would be nice if you wouldn't swear.
Anyway, you mention lower-left. If so, try right-clicking the icon and delete, as I'm assuming its on your quick launch bar. If it is on the lower-right, you should try opening the program and adjusting the settings, Many programs allow you to remove the icon in taskbar. It has to be associated with a program that you have installed.
Something else I might suggest. Go to Start > Run > type msconfig > click on startup tab > look for anything associated with adobe or photoshop.
That will prevent it from starting up. Just uncheck it and reboot. See if that works.

Click on the start button, then my computer, then control panel. You will see an icon that says task bars: click that then if the icon you do not want shown is not in the hidden icon categorie check put it there by placing a check next to it. I hope this will help! The only other way I can tell you is right click on the icon press delete when it ask are you sure press o.k.

I could probably be a better help if I could see it or get more information, but I can try. If it is something that appears when you start your computer, try going into Start - Programs - Startup. If you see it there, right-click on it and choose "delete."
Another thing you could try is right-clicking on the icon. There might be an "options" or "preferences" that you can select. Look for an option to not display the icon.
Alternatively, you may want to re-install PhotoShop.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

If you have an unwanted icon in your task bar, just CLOSING or 'exiting' the icon does not remove it, because you also have an unwanted PROGRAM in your computer.
Open up your control panel, click on "add or remove programs", and when the list populates, you will see the program NAME. Click on it, and the 'remove' button. It should remove the program, the icon, and any associated files.
You might also try START/All programs/ and see if that program, where it is listed, has an "uninstall" option when you click and hold on it in your program list.
Good luck with that.

Check under your Start up folder (Start / All Programs / StartUp) and see if there's a Photoshop thing there. If so, you can delete it and it's gone.
2nd thought - open up photoshop and look at preferences. There may be a 'startup' tab where you can tell it what yo uwant to run.
If the icon has a specific name (other than supporting photoshop), there might be an add/delete programs entry in the control panel
good luck

Well.. Taking caution with responding, I think an average suggestion could be to right click the taskbar, go to ''Customize notifications'', find the program and click ''Always hide''.. That way, it will be hidden with the other programs in the arrow.
