First a few thoughts about your dream. Now, some people could interpret that this guy has some importance in your life. I would disagree; in the dreams most things that represent something don't exactly look like the thing they represent. In this case, I would guess the appearing of this guy means that you have been lately thinking about matters related to incidents in your life back then. Most of these questions would probably fold around the concept of parenthood: were your parents right when they didn't let you date him? How much should you try to choose your child's friends? How can you be such a good parent, that your child won't become a "bad boy" like that guy? Did his parents do something wrong, or do things like that just happen? Now, I don't know if you have children of your own, or what would make you think parenthood, but I would guess it is a birth of a child somewhere near you (or your own child growing up to the age where he/she starts to hang out with other children).
Now about your question. Last time I had a recurring dream was when I was 6 years old. That's a long time ago, but that dream had a big influence in my life back then, and still has. I learned to control my dreams, and it started to teach me how to face my fears in the real world too. The dream was about some kind of a monster hiding in the darkness in our living room (which was between my bedroom and my parents bedroom in my childhood home). From time to time I still think about that dream, and occasionally visit that house in my dreams (sadly this is the only option, because that house doesn't exit in the real world anymore). Every time I've given particular thought to that dream, I've learned something about my childhood or life in general.
Sweet dreams.

Oh yeah.
I've had this nightmare since i was in first classroom:
I'm in a classroom with a girl I was best friends with in first grade. The rest of the class is there too and we're all listening to a speech by Bob Saget (yes I'm serious I have nightmares about Bob Saget). For some reason or another he gets really angry and falls into a cup of coffee. He turns into a dragon and starts destroying the classroom. My and EMily run down the hall and he chases after us. Then I wake up.
I have the dream at least once a year for 13 yrs now.

I keep having a dream that seems so real. I wake up in the middle of the night and see a big spider dangling over my face. I rub my eyes and its still there. I wake up my husband and he turns on the light, and of course there's nothing there. This has been going on for years. I'm not sure if I'm awake and seeing things, or dreaming.

Ha Ha. Weird reoccurring dreams..? Yes.. I used to dream that this mud monster would chase me all over the town and follow me in my house. Then I'd hide behind this chair and as the mud monster got ready to gobble me up, I'd wake up..
Over the years I have grown to believe that the mud monster was my stepfather...

that is strange..i believe dreams are our subconsious trying to get through and tell us do to things, or give us advice. i always have strange dreams, i think about them thoroughly and try and figure out what my mind is trying to tell me.
i think you need some closure on this guy..he probably meant a lot more to you than you think he did. if you can, actually do go to his parents and talk to them about it. that will help you.
remember, dreams never lie.
