hi colors, i love this question - Elvis Costello is yet another artist whose music I actually in the near previous 'stumbled on' because again in the overdue 70's my ears basically weren't waiting, for some reason. From a bass perspective, my fave is Pump it Up. notwithstanding, over the perfect year or so, i have been listening more effective to what's So humorous 'Bout Peace, Love, and information? and Oliver's military. great stuff, and that i won't be able to imagine how I ignored it the first time round!

I love Elvis!

I think he is THE best songwriter since The Beatles. And that is a huge compliment.

My favorite Elvis Costello song is Alison!

I also loved Peace, Love and Understanding. He is incredible!

Yes, ma'am! You might like some of these 'minor classics' below, often neglected but worthy of checking out.

A lot of them are available only on Rhino reissues of his back catalogue, which have a ton of bonus tracks. Some Googlin' will bring them to light, I'm sure.

a. 'King Of Confidence'

b. 'American Without Tears (Twilight Version)' - this is an alternate, but very different, version of a song from 'The King Of America' album.

c. 'Miracle Man' - I really like this one, you may have it already.

d. 'Baby Plays Around' - you either hate what this guy's done in the last 15 years, or love only bits of it. I love only bits of it. This is from the album 'Spike', and would have graced any good songwriter's portfolio.

e. 'Human Touch' - more of the raw, early feel. On the album 'Get Happy'.

f. 'Blame It On Cain (Honky Tonk Demo)' - Again, an alternate version that's better than the 'official version' - he does this a lot! (I have a KCRW Live radio show where some of his impromptu versions of his songs are brilliant.)

Hope you have fun with those suggestions!
