when i was younger i had a book with the eleaphant Babaar and his family living in this type of home with rooms with tunnels or tubes connecting them. i believe it was set in the future. i had it back in the 1970's. can ayone tell me the name of that book. i would love to find it. thanks.

A French writer and illustrator (he drew all the pictures as well), Jean De Brunhoff, wrote the Babar series. He wrote 7 books which have all been translated to English (you can get them on Amazon) and they are (The travels of Babar is the one you are looking for):

There was actually a whole series of books about Babar the Elephant. I had them in both english and french. I vaguely remember the one with the tubes, but I don't remember the name of the story. Look on Amazon. They may have a used copy.

I think they were all called Babar. Then it was always followed by what the story was about. Goes to school, etc. That kind of stuff.

The elephant's name was Barbar, and it was a wonderful children's series. You can still find them in good book stores.
I believe Barbar was originally in French.
