Was she spared this sentence? I was reminded of the case when I stumbled across if on snopes.com but their article was last updated in 2003 and did not give the outcome fo this tragic case.

She was accused of adultery because she was divorced from her husband before she became pregnant. But her lawyer argued that under sharia (Islamic law), some babies may stay in the womb for up to five years. So there was no proof that she was an adulterer just as there was no proof the baby's father was an adulterer. I'm not sure how much the public outcry had to do with it. But she wasn't stoned.

Another good question is what about the man that she was with?

No mention of Stoning him.
