Pretty soon your lack of passion for your job is going to start to show. If i were you i'd start looking elsewhere, to see if there is anything available that would be of interest.

Happiness comes from within. Hating your job is normal if you are complacent and have become stagnant. You need to assess what's important to you. After three years, change is good because there are times when we out grow positions and are seeking an opportunity that will challenge you more. Before resigning ask yourself what is it that you wouldn't mind doing for free? Answer this honestly then begin searching for positions that will meet your needs and wants. Once you are able to identify what it is, its easier to move on. Another thing, consider temping until you find what it is you are called to do. There is good money in temping plus you can command what you are worth. Temping allows you to experience other work environments before settling into something you aren't sure of. Remember don't become so content that you are not willing or afraid to try new things because you are only hindering yourself, your well being, your happiness and your finances.

Siince you've only been there three years, think about what you are good at, what you love to do and what you would do for free because of your love for it. See if there is anything in that field that you can do to get your foot in a door- that will be the best thing for you mentally.
I realize that money is a big issue for people and it factors into their job choice.
If you took a cut in pay but could have room for growth it could be worked out.

It would be awful to spend the next 20 years of your life in a job you hate. Life is too short for that and no job is worth it.

At least keep on the lookout for something you like doing and make a change. It will improve your whole life.

It is not abnormal for a person to tire of a workplace. When I worked for Rocketdyne, even though it was Research, I would sometimes really get tired of it. Then a little later something would come up; usually a problem to be solved and I would get interested and become renewed.

I don't know what your job is, but I do know that you need something else to think about and you need something outside of your job, that you are not getting out of life.

I would advise you to begin by developing a new hobby. Get interested in something that will grab you and give you something constructive to think about when you are on and off of the job. It you have a good boss, stay put. Good bosses are hard to come by.
Give it a try, It would be nice to hear from you after you have made an adjustment or two, in your outlook.

Well, the whole thing behind having a job is having to do work. If I were you, I wouldn't want to get paid for sitting around doing nothing. Job asks for labor, so you might be tired of it, but if you want to keep getting paid you're going to have to put up with it or try to find a job where you don't have to do that much work.

If your job truly makes you unhappy, I would look for something else but don't just up and leave without having something to bounce back on.

Are you making really good money and is there room for advancement? If the answer's no I would look into something else. It is a tough decision and you may not end up with another boss you like as much. In ten years I've only had one boss I really liked. But you could end up with a better job.

I would definitly start looking around, it wouldn't hurt. Don't quit your job until you find something you are confortable with. It might take a while to find, but the right job will pop up and you will realize it as soon as you walk out of the interview, that's what happened to me. Be patient and try not to get to frustrated. Looking on the internet is a good help, especially if you are looking to move out of your current area, the change of senery also helps a lot.

Being unhappy sucks balls. Moving from a comfortable atmosphere where the boss is great, to an unknown place/atmosphere/boss is an unknown situation. So what to do??

I say, do that great boss a favor and leave....you'll be doing yourself and them a favor since you do not like it there anymore. Find another job. The best part? If you dont like the new job/boss/atmosphere - leave and find another.

But Ive got news for you too......they call it WORK because that is what it is. If you had fun at it, it would be a hobby that you would be getting paid for...... suck it up, cuz youre gonna be doing it for the next 40 years of your life....

Oops, If you hate "Doing Work"
Then i must tell you that, there is no place on earth where people are paid for "Not Working"...
I'm surprised to know that you hate your job and still your Boss is Extremely good to you... so my advice is, STAY in the job, Don't quit if you are getting good pay and are comfortable with the atmosphere.
