buy an external hard drive by USB connection i ihave 200gb one for $100 or so. i use it to back up my music and videos and i hook it up to my laptop when i want to watch something, but since my laptop is old (windows98) i only use the external and i cleared off the entire hard drive on the laptop so it runs faster (only has 128mb of RAM!!)

Assuming music albums, if you have a CD recorder, recordable discs are dirt cheap if you buy in bulk. Better yet, buy or borrow (unless you already own) a DVD recorder. If nothing else, try setting up a network. If you have a network jack on both machines, a simple crossover cable will eliminate the need for expensive network gear.

I usually use AIM to transfer things. Just have 2 AIM screen names and do a file transfer. You just sit back and watch it do all the work. It's usually pretty quick but if you have a Gig or more it could be up to 3+ hours.

Assuming the PCs are both accesible on the same network, I'd use Synctoy from Microsoft. It works rather well.

If they are networked, you can just share them from the laptop. If they are not networked, you can get an external hard drive and move them over that way.
