The price of oil has remained the same. Foreign concerns regarding oil are worse than ever and we just went through the Labor Day holiday. Prices almost always go up on a holiday weekend, but over the Labor Day holiday they went down in my area from an average of $2.97 to $2.49. With only two months left until midterm elections, do you think the oil companies are trying to influence the election to keep Republicans in power by lowering gas prices right before the election? It would probably be in their best financial interest to. Over the past two years gas has gone up from $1.55 in my area to $2.97. It has averaged a steady gain of 5 cents per month. It has kept that steady gain till now. The price of oil has gone up about 20-25% over 2 years, but the price of gas has almost doubled. Something seems fishy to me.

Bharris44 you need to research your own chart. Around this time in 2004, the price of gas was flat. In 2005, it went dramatically up then this year it dramatically drops. I know the economics of supply and demand. Even with reduced refining capacity the gas companies were not beyond even 90% of their capacity. And a 20-25% increase in oil shouldn't equate to almost a doubling in gas price. If the Democrats take control of Congress there will certainly be more environmental regulations. Why do you think companies pay lobbyists millions of dollars each year? To affect the outcome of bills. I realize that world events play a part on the price of gas. It's just that the changes in gas price are dramatic compared to news that affects it.

IT is funny that people post graphs they have not looked at carefully to back there statements believe what you want you are your own best decider on the issues just keep looking into any issue to find all sides and decide on your own then .
I tend to agrre that over the years if possible it always looks great for the ruling power to seek help from industry when republicans are in office .THE other can be said if democrats are in office .
People vote there wallet and when things are good they tend to remain the same when things are bad they tend to change this is not hard to figure out . TH only differane i see is why do we have to political parties who both do the same thing on issues that effect america .Abortion who really cares gun control the same enviroment gay marriage all issues to confuse the voters on what relly happens in congress .

This happens every year no matter who is in power. Check out the link below.
Until you eliminate lobbying, there will always be groups and companies bribing politicians to make laws that favor them. The unions are the biggest lobbyists out there. Do you know why Democrats fight to increase the minimum wage? It's because many union contracts are designed to give their members a raise when the min wage goes up. They don't really care about "the little guy."
Do some research.

Two Words..
Supply and Demand.
A. Recent supply chain issues have been resolved due to the fact two of the major refineries taken out during the gulf storm of 2005 were placed back on line. Crude Oil futures dropped because of projected supplies. Hence fuel at the pump dropped. This would happen with a D or an R or an L in the oval orifice.
You paranoid liberals need to take some basic economics and perhaps take an advanced course in energy economics. You walk around and rant all day about the Republic*nts, yet the dems offer no solution to many complex issues either.
If you want to truly DO something productive, write your representatives, about CTL/GTL Politically and on the world stage this would do more to stabilize oil prices as anything..
The technology exists to retrofit current refining to handle Coal, Natural Gas or other biomass type energies. The Coal and NG solution could put Crude prices down to about $30 in about 3 years upon the passage of the Comsumer Transportation Security Act. It would eliminate our reliance on sources of crude oil from politically unstable regions and make the US again a net producer of energy.
What stands in the way is the leftist environmental concerns that are intent on weakening the US instead of strengthening it.
It's time to knock the knees out from under the middle east.
We need to pursue existing CTL/GTL technologies here in the US and take the price of oil down to pre-1974 values. WE can do this using Coal to Liquid technologies with existing supply chains in the US.
It's high to eliminate politically unstable regions from our supply chain. Drying up their money supply will dry them up.
Fighting war sometimes means re-thinking how we go about things.. We don't have to shoot someone to win a war, but we can remove their supply of money by not buying anything from them. In the process we can become energy independent.

your mistake is in assuming there is any but minor differences between the two major political parties. They are both evil.Every election the price of gas is lowered and then raised after and stupid people keep buying it.We need a complete change in government.Every single incumbent politician should be voted out of office and replaced, no matter what their party affiliate, that way they will know that the american people mean their bitching and are serious about things changing. If they didnt have utter confidence that they would get voted in time and time again maybe they would change somethings.

The price of gasoline is generally determined by trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, by supply and demand. and by market forces in general. The recent decline in prices may be the result of the recent discovery of lots of oil in the "Jack" field in the Gulf of Mexico. There is no conspiracy.

of course it's political, the Dem's will bring unpleasant things like windfall profits tax back if they get into power, watch the price of gas go up right after the election.
