Depending on the type of species, wahles get their fresh water from the food that they eat. Fish, krill and other small animal have fresh water in their system that they process. Other whales may convert salt water to fresh water. There is no definitive answer yet because not a lot is known about the physiology of whales.

I think you're assuming that all animals need to drink water. That may be true for land dwellers, but not those who live IN water. We (land dwellers) lose water (de-hydration) so we do need to drink water at some point everyday.
Whales don't need 'fresh' water, as one answer pointed out, because of the food they eat, although, the whales that eat kreel (small shrimp-like creatures) use the baleen in their mouths to get rid of the excess seawater, before they swallow their food.
If we spend too much time in water, our rather porous skin soaks up extra water (when you get all pruny in the tub), but whales skin is not porous like ours. It just's their enviornment and it's how their body works.
Hope that helps.
