Are you lazy and aware of it? I am. Academically, I've always been succesful but I'm still lazy. I know I could achieve more in life if I wasn't this lazy!

Do I need to just accept this fact or should I do something to overcome my laziness? What are the succesful techniques you know to overcome laziness?

Idiots who say "just do something" have no clue what it's like to drag-*** all the time.

There is no cure. It's a trait just like brown hair. Either you got it or you don't.

I think we should get handicapped parking privileges. What do you think? It's not like I WANT to be lazy. I just AM.

Excercising boosts your metabolism and gives you more energy in general. I say, do things that you both enjoy, and get you moving. Like a walk in the woods or a swim in the lake or pool, maybe some tennis or basketball with a friends. Physical activites will help you overcome laziness. If you really want to get out there and get moving, you will. It's a case of "mind over matter". Good luck!

You are not lazy. You are bored.

You need to find something that outrageously interests you. Meaning, pick something you think you would LOVE to do, but think is impossible to achieve and start down the road - you will find it challenging and eventually rewarding - when you reach your goal.

Regarding school, make sure to pair your General Education classes with some fun or really intense courses that challenge you.

Also, make sure to create a rhythm in your life. It is easiest to create this through routine. I personally have a weekday routine and a weekend routine - the weekend routine includes more fun/relaxing... everyone is different - and according to their schedules... but I find this helps me accomplish things and feel better....

And speaking of feeling better, when I know I have to do something(s) I don't want, I just think about the high I feel when I do accomplish them and how I feel after weeks of following a rhythm - and that alone helps get me to follow through. In essence, I make being "consistent" a sort of challenge.

First you should try to figure out what the root cause of your laziness is. Two possibilities are:

1) You are not interested in working harder.
2) You are afraid of the consequences of working harder.

I don't think it's #1 because you are concerned enough about your laziness to ask about it. So, what would happen if you worked harder? What do you hope would happen?

Are you afraid that if you worked harder and you didn't achieve what you hoped to achieve, that you would feel bad about this, or be judged by others? This is what happens with perfectionism. You want your best effort to produce perfect results. If it doesn't, it shows that you are flawed. Therefore, you don't want to put forward your best effort.

So that's my suggestion: figure out what's beneath the laziness and go from there.

LOL....oh man, this is a good one. got a kick out of the first answer.
Americans are lazy people. When they get fat, they blame it on genes or having big bones...lol
I think, if you start your day out wrong, thats how its gonna be like all day long.
Have a routine and stick with it.
Try waking up earlier, than you normally do. Sometimes, people feel theres no reason why they should wake up earliy in the morning.
As a woman, I get up between 6 and 6:30 am, everyday. Doesn't matter if its the weekend, your day off from work or holidays. You train your body to this routine.
When I get up, I wash my face, put on shorts, shirt and tennis shoes and start heading out the door.
You don't have to run, just walk your own pace.
Stop eating junk food, they do nothing good for your body but make you gain weight and drains the energy out of your body.
Find things that you like to do. hobby.
I like to do alot of things, painting is one of them. You don't have to do alot. But you sure feel good about yourself when the days goes by and you did something.
Theres no excuse for laziness. Train your body to move, not sitting on the couch all day. You should also look into volunteering at a place that needs volunteers. Go to bed early than you normally do so you can wake up early with strength to start your day out right. Fill your day with things to do. Sure you can be lazy sometimes and just want to relax and not do anything. But if thats everyday life for you, your life is passing by and you're just sitting there and stare at it.

Find out what motivates you. When you do, you'll become more purpose driven. The same is true when you learn your purpose in life. You'll then have something to work towards. BTW, some laziness is okay. Like anything else, it's about degrees.

Lazy as in how? Don't want to work, don't want to exercise? Well, If you like your lazy lifestyle and are happy with it don't change! If you are sick of it I supposed you could try to be un-lazy (is that a word?) and see what the benefits of that are. You can always go back to the way you were

I know I've said this a few times already in my other responses but what the hell... try the following:
1) write down the things you want to accomplish;
2) on each assignment, write beside it how would you like them done;
3) schedule a time of completion for each assignment;
4) start deciding when you should commence the first assignment; and, finally
5) check the real meaning of the word "responsibility" and look again at the list of assignments you want to accomplish.

One of the assignments you might want to accomplish is, for example, rearranging your bedroom furnitures -- write down how'd you like your bedroom look like after rearranging it and how much time you'll need to finish it. ;-)

Your laziness is probably lack of discipline.

Join the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines. If you're smart, you'll go far and they'll drill the discipline into you!

And I'm not a recruiter or anything, I actually think it might be what you need.
