There is a S-video input on my TV but not an output on my laptop. But this may just be for visual signals. Audio may require other connections?

all u need is a 2 -video cable and 2 to 1 audio connector... audio goes into ur speaker connection and the other end will have red and white. S-video connect the cable first then turn on the computer. Select right tv channel and if you still dont get a picture look at ur F keys one of the will have a monitor tv sign... press function (fn key) and press f key and voila you should see it. If u want u can also use it as a dual monitor

First of I would double check that it is s-video in, as it sounds unusual to have in but not out?

For the audio you should be able to to go from the headset socket jack to a red & white phono / scart plug into the back of the av unit.
