I didn't watch every show he did, nor was I that big of a fan & I realize forums such as this will be flooded with comments about his work, his life, his death, etc - but I did want to say that I thought the work he did was very special & I hate that his two very beautiful little children will have to grow up without their dad. He adored his family as much as his beloved animals & that makes his loss a tragedy. So joke about him all you want, make fun of his expressions, his clothing, etc - he even stirred quite a bit of controversy with his career over the years - but the passion he felt for those animals & for his family was genuine & came through quite clearly in everything he did. The light of the world is a little bit dimmer right now because he's gone.

Thanks all, for the positive responses - there've been a couple out here that actually made me get teary-eyed. "William" - you have a right idea there; the light will pass on & grow brighter. That's a much more positive way of looking at it - thanks for putting it that way for me!! "Fancy Pants" - don't give up on getting to go Down Under - ya never know what life will hold for you & someday it might be a dream come true!! - I really have been touched by these responses.
Thank you!!

that's so true
you know, I really am saddened
Steve Irwin was really my idol. I loved the show and the animals, and getting to see the beautiful wild life and landscapes of Australia,
which I will probably never see
he did so much good work in the world and had so much love for everything he did and saw
the world is indeed a bit dimmer
Steve Irwin, requiescat in pace.

I didn't know Steve personally but he helped a lot of people to be closer to the animals he loved. He was a true Wildlife Warrior and educator and he will never be forgotten. He loved his family and the animals and he could make the viewers feel his enthusiasm for wildlife over the TV.
My heart goes out to Terri, Bindi, Bob and the rest of his family and his friends

Yes, he was truly a special man. I am big fan of his amazing work with animals. I think many people can learn alot from what this man brought to this world. He shows us that we are all God's creatures. Humans being superior beings over animals, we can help animals when they can't help themselves. He showed a certain fearlessness that everyone respected. My heartfelt prayers and sympathy go out to his wife and his two very young children. R.I.P Steve.God Bless

I remember hhow happy he was when he found out Terry was pregnant with Bindy Su. I remember the show where he went into the delivery room after her birth! Was so cute! He must have been an amazing dad. His shows were all great. The world lost a great conservationist.

I believe that the world has lost a special soul. He changed the way that I look at snakes, crocs and other creepy crawlies. I think that he was an amazing person and that we were all blessed to be able to see a sliver of his life. He will be missed.

Thank you Pumpkin. Just....thank you. Compassion & empathy seem to be sorely lacking in many places, but not here. The world is surely a bit darker now than it was before....but your candle helps illuminate the positive.

Thank you! It's nice to see that there are some people out there who aren't willing to to make a joke out of every little thing, and show true compassion, and love for one another. Again, I thank you for being a nice, caring person. God bless you.

People with good self esteem are special. They reach out. Love radiates outwards: you begin with self, then family, then humanity, then life and all God's creation. That is why they touch so many people and people respond accordingly. He who gives also receives!
