I don't live there, I live in Kentucky. But I love Texas and would love to live there. Friendly people who still honor family values; culture and history; Texas pride; geographical diversity and natural beauty; large cities and charming small towns. Texas has at least a sample of everything the world has to offer, all within its boundaries.

To any left-wing loons who think that Texas is awful and full of nothing but Bush-supporting, oil-rigging redneck conservatives, you're wrong. So just don't comment. I happen to like Bush and I'm not against big oil, but Texas is so much more once you at least visit and see what is has.

I use to live in West Virginia, moved to Texas about 5 years ago. It took me a bit to get use to it. After all I was from a small town and moved here to a big city. I like it now that I have got use to it. Lots of things to do. Anything is better than W.V. I guess. lol
The Heat can get to you but the winters are awesome!! NO SNOW!

You are right on all points! Texas pride does seem to get Texans in trouble but I was born and raised and will always be a Texan. Been gone for 22 yrs. and still feel very strong about my home state. I used to get asked about my accent and if I was from Tx. My answer was H*** yes and proud of it!

In my opinion the Texas hill country is the best possible choice of a place to live. No I didn't live there...... The humidity isn't all that bad and you have Austin and San Antonio to visit while lots of places to live that aren't BIG city. Love that country! You have to see the highways and fields in the spring. They blossom with bluebonnets and Indian paint brush. It will take your breath away.

This Q will probably get a lot of Texas hate answers. Ignore them. Go Girl!

I moved to Dallas, TX about 4 years ago from Portland, OR....so far, I haven't gotten to see much of Texas (except for the drive through from El Paso to Dallas.....12+ hours of dust, oil rigs, and wide open sky), and a visit to Lubbock, which was pretty neat. Dallas itself is great...lots of cultural events and more places to eat out than you can imagine! The people are half and half, but no worse than you can expect anywhere else these days. I guess it just depends on where you are....in the city, people drive fast and live faster, and it is hard to meet people like me (small town/friendly/down to earth), and people are always just nicer in the country. I am looking forward to exploring down south near Houston and Padre....I understand that there are actually hills and forests down there!! Oh, and it is HOT no matter where ya live in Texas....at least compared to living anywhere else (except Arizona and Nevada of course). Even when it is only 85, the humidity cranks it up to unbearable. I don't know if I recommend moving here, at least not this far north, but Texas is great and I definately think you should come n check it out!

Kentucky HUH? Me too. Near Fort Knox. Texas, been there many times, my husband is from Odessa TX. Its like a different world there. However, there are not many trees in the Odessa area, just alot of old pump jacks, snakes, cactus, etc. Up toward the Texarkania Area it is really nice and green. The first time I went it was so weird because as soon as we passed into the state line everyone had cowboy hats on. I remember going into pizza hut and everyone had them on. Like all states there are good and bad. Like I said my husband was born and raised there and he does not want to back and live there.

I've only lived here ( Texas ) and Louisiana.
I love Texas, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
The only thing that bothers me is that the heat can be killer.
A lot of people think that we all wear cowboy hats and boots. LOL !!! There ARE some THEY'RE CALLED COWBOYS !!!. But not all of us go that far. Besides, there are people in other states AND countries that wear them too. Do people criticize them ? NO !
And, your added comment is right on ! Most people don't understand that though. Those who don't........what can I say ?
It doesn't bother me any more !
I'm proud to be a Texan !!!!!

Great place to live!!! I'm bred-born-raised a Son of Texas. I've traveled all over the world and nearly all of the U.S. Like the bumper sticker says, "I wasn't born a Texan but I got here as fast as I could!"
