Aquarium and SeaWorld rays have their barbs trimmed. Normally, rays only sting when they are attacked or stepped on. The rays you can swim with in the wild are used to people. This was a fluke accident, or so it seems, with Steve Irwin. I've swam with rays, pet them, even caught them. Millions and millions of people do so every year. Rays simply are not normally aggressive.

a million. NO. very few rides would not recommend the entire park will be Harry Potter themed. 2. Disney has some thrill rides and rollercoaster-ish rides: Splash Mountain, area Mountain, Thunder Mountain, day vacation Everest, Rock N' roller Coaster 3. i imagine they're doing an outstanding activity with the Wizarding international of Harry Potter. 4. (You skipped 4) 5. i imagine both parks are very thrilling. a good type of issues to do. 6. No, i'm no longer certain what you mean via "action rides".... yet I take excitement in all of those rides and that i'm certain Despicable Me will be great. 7. certain Disney is definitely for each age 8. CityWalk has a movie theater, a minigolf direction, golf equipment (including an adolescent club), bars, eating places, shops, and actually some different issues. 9. i pass to established the different weekend and that i have never had a nasty adventure there. 10. The Flex value ticket is largely good once you're staying in Orlando for like, a week and a 0.5 a minimum of 11. as a rule, Disney customer service is excellent. 12. Disney is definitely nicely worth it if you're vacationing Orlando. except you do not have a good type of money to spend. 13. Busch Gardens is between the a lot less widely used topic parks. i imagine that is okay. yet no longer almost as good as USF , IOA, Disney, and so on 14. certain, i'm certain the Busch Gardens information superhighway website has a catalogue of their sights 15. SeaWorld is fantastically thrilling, no longer too many rides. actually about 4 or 5 rides. a good type of shows, aquariums to seem at, stuff like that. 16. USF and IOA are nicely worth going to. they're actually thrilling 17. if you're planning this vacation on a funds then Discovery Cove isn't nicely worth it. Disney actually DOES have issues for each age. The characters have continuously been on a schedule. and they don't walk round all day. How do you want strolling round Disney all day in a outstanding thick dress that regularly has some type of fur on it in 80 to one hundred degree climate + humidity. frequently Disney forged contributors are very useful and that i imagine as a rule they do their jobs nicely. female B is too picky then. once you're gonna come to Orlando only for thrill rides and rollercoasters then pass to three different state and basically pass to 6 Flags or some thing. Lol :P If female B is dumb sufficient to pay for a Disney value ticket basically to do Tower of Terror and the Rock N' roller Coaster then she has issues. Lol jk, yet she should be more effective off going to easily USF and IOA if she's that picky. Haha, desire my answer helped. :)

There are MANY different types of sting rays, and they probably have different behavioral patterns. The ones I have seen up close didn't even have barbs at all. Relax. They probably can't remove the barbs for the safety of the animal, and probably create an environment that allows the creatures to NOT get blocked in, thus allowing you to swim safely.

In captivity the venomous barbs are removed. And plus the rays are accustomed to humans petting them and therefore do not see humans as a threat. In the wild they do have their barbs, but the ones at th Cayman Islands are used to the company of humans and therefore are not threatened by them. As with any wild creature it is wise take caution and treat them with respect.

I have no idea. I have swam with the Sting Rays in Sting Ray City in Grand Cayman. Beautiful, docile creatures. Anyway, this is a mystery to me. If they have to remove their barbs I would be against allowing people to swim with them. Just my thought.

I was watching the CBS morning show this morning and they had the curator of the marine park in maine on. He showed barbs that were removed from stingrays in captivity. If you swam with them in their own habitat thay probably did not percieve you as a threat.

They are typically non-aggressive to humans and are quite safe to be around. But when provoked they will assume a defensive posture. Irwin was clearly unlucky in this regard, because he wasn't stung to death (rays can't kill you with their venom, it just hurts like heck), he was knifed through the heart. It was a million to one shot.
btw, the rays for petting at Sea World are bat rays.

I've done the same thing with wild rays Honduras. I think it was a freak accident. Also the ray that stabbed Steve was prolly larger. I've read accounts that said that the ray was boxed in, and also this ray may have never seen a person before.
