Get a job at Costco. They have great benefits and great starting hourly pay. After 6 months of working at Costco you get health,dental,optical,401k, tuition reimbursement, and more. Around here they are mostly hire college/university students and close everyday at 7:30 and are closed on Sundays. Plenty of time to do homework

Working as a model for an alcohol distribution company is the highest paying job for college students who are good looking. Let me recount how I know this. I used to work as an intern for radio station 91X in San Diego. In the sales department one of the positions was an account representative who specifically dealt with selling air time to alcohol companies. But it isn't Anheiser Busch per se who buys the advertising time. It is the local/regional company that distributes the alcohol for Anheiser Busch that actually does the advertising purchase. These distributors can be individually owned or owned by the alcohol companies themselves. These companies all have HUGE promotional budgets. That is the money they spend to make those inflatables you see in bars and the keychains, T-Shirts and other free items they give away. Another area in which they spend their money is hiring attractive (usually female but not always), young people who they send to bars, sporting events, concerts, and other places where alcohol drinkers gather. These models promote the alcoholic beverages by giving away either tastes or free stuff. They get paid $20-$25/hour. They do have to be 21 to work the bars and give away tastes but they only have to be 18 to work the sporting events and concerts where they only give away free promotional items. The work is typically at night or on the weekends. The only skill you need is beautiful body, a winsome smile and an outgoing personality. There are always positions open for these types of models in college towns because alcohol distributors like to promote heavily to the young adult crowd. Call the radio station sales offices in your area and ask for the name of the sales person who handles the alcohol accounts. I think his/her title might even be National Alcohol Sales Representative or National Alcohol Sales Manager. Once you get that person's name call him/her or e-mail him/her and say that you want to be a model for the beer companies and you would like to get the names of the distributors he/she works with that offer that kind of work. He/She will know exactly what you are talking about and will, most likely, be able to steer you to the alcohol distribution companies that offer these types of jobs. If calling the radio station office does not work, go to the bar where your college friends hang out and actually ask the General Manager for the names of the distribution companies from which he/she purchases. Of course, if you are not pretty/handsome you will not be hired for this type of work.

Bartending would be good work. Alcohol is consumable, however, it is not food! All the bartenders i know love their work. I am a Technical AIde for 3M, and i make about 13 bucks an hour before taxes. My internship position kinda fell in my lap so i lucked out with my good paying job.

try Costco if you have one close to you. they have a good starting pay rate. It's not that hard of a job. you just have to deal with a lot of snobby people sometimes and sometimes they are cool. but thats retail.

Unless you're an entrepreneur or employer, you're stuck with blue-collar work. For instance, surgeons are well-paid, but they rely on manual (albeit highly skilled) labor: those not in private practice are blue-collar workers.

Unless you've mastered some administrative skill (computer programming, accounting, etc.) that enables you to exercise direction in a business, anything you do is going to be "blue collar."

From your question, it seems you've relatively limited options.

Buying and selling is potentially extremely lucrative -- but to some degree, it involves speculation: you invest your assets in the hope of a greater return. As with all risks, potential gain and potential loss are directly proportional (but almost never equal).

Find something that other people *want* -- then buy low and sell high. If they want it badly enough, they will pay whatever you ask. For instance, when I was in junior high school, I bought a shipment of "love meters" for 29 cents apiece on consignment, and sold them for up to $6.50 apiece. I ran out before I reached a price my customers were unwilling to pay.

-------------------------------

Exotic dancing and escorting can potentially generate significant income, but neither is really a sure thing.

For instance, becoming an "house dancer" is a matter of talent: it's not so much about being pretty (though that helps) or having the courage to disrobe in front of strangers. It's all about the acting, and some people simply don't have what it takes.

Additionally, dancing is physically demanding and occasionally results in significant "stage injuries" (for instance, broken bones) and other problems. I know a feature dancer that got bitten on the derriere by a brown recluse spider, apparently when she was dressing.

Feature dancing pays very much better than regular performances, but it involves greater initial cost (for costumes, props, transportation, etc.). And getting top dollar as a feature dancer requires a phenomenal performance and usually some sort of recognition as an adult entertainer (aka "porn star").

Porn pays much better for women than for men, and the rate an actress gets depends on what the scene involves: obviously, non-sex appearances by unknown actresses are going to be regarded the same as appearances by "extras."

For actresses, I don't remember if lesbian or straight pays more, but entry through the back door pays more than entry through the front door, both of which pay better than oral, which pays better than manual. Usually, interracial pays better than same-race; multi-partner pays better than single-partner, which pays better than solo. And none of that really falls into the "fetish" genre -- which is more diverse than I care to write about.

The upside to porn is that all the reputable companies demand frequent testing (usually a monthly full-panel, plus an HIV screen before each shoot); the downside is that there are about 25 different STDs that get exchanged anyway. Ostensibly, these are limited to "nuisance diseases" -- easily treated and cured, but nevertheless inconvenient and potentially very scary.

Another downside to porn is that it is merely an impersonal, mechanical, results-oriented job -- but sex is for most people a relatively intimate and personal act. Therefore, being a porn star isn't for everyone.

Exotic dancers, porn stars and escorts all are adult entertainers, but their respective jobs are extremely different -- even when one person performs all 3 types of job.

Under the Bush administration, there has been an incredibly severe crackdown against escorting, resulting in both (1) a huge increase in frivolous lawsuits filed by the State and (2) extraordinary legal fees for defendants.

There are yet other hazards: not all clients behave humanely. And in the end (no pun intended), in the strict sense, all these jobs involve manual labor.

Personally, I think prostitution poses an unacceptably high risk versus the potential reward -- plus, in most places in the USA, it's not legal.

Try being a part time nanny or tutor. They can pay well depending on the family.
