Before the American Constitution was signed each of the individual states had their own name. However, they might be referred to as North America, just as people these days refer to Western Europe (not that I am implying Western Europe will necessarily ever become one state).

Obviously the Native Indians had their own names for their lands. Also, in the early days there were colonies in what is now the United States belonging to states other than Great Britain, which again had their own names.

It wasn't a single entity. Each of the 13 British Empire colonies had its own name, though they might have been referred to under the group title of the American colonies for certain purposes. Florida was Spanish, Alaska was Russian, Louisiana was French, Manhattan was Dutch, etc

Before it became the USA the land mass was divided into various colonies. The colonies that participated in the rebellion were:

-Province of New Hampshire, later New Hampshire
-Province of Massachusetts Bay, later Massachusetts and Maine
-Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, later Rhode Island
-Connecticut Colony, later Connecticut
-Province of New York, later New York and Vermont
-Province of New Jersey, later New Jersey
-Province of Pennsylvania, later Pennsylvania
-Delaware Colony (before 1776, the Lower Counties on Delaware), later Delaware
-Province of Maryland, later Maryland
-Colony and Dominion of Virginia, later Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia
-Province of North Carolina, later North Carolina and Tennessee
-Province of South Carolina, later South Carolina
-Province of Georgia, later Georgia

Neither Upper nor Lower Canada participated in the Rebellion. There was also a significant French presence (Louisiana) that also remained seperate at the time.

Before the Declaration of Independance it was referred to as either the Colonies or The Colonial Americas depending on what side of the water you came from.

Well, if you mean the country now known as the United States of America, it's always had that name.

If you mean the land that's now part of the USA... then it's a lot of different names.

It was just another British colony. The concept of the United States encompassed several territories of different names, some even Spanish.
