Impacts of Parallel Computing?

Does anyone know any impacts on society (large or small) that have come about as the result of parallel computing? Parallel computing is the act of using the processing power of several computers to work on one large problem. I'm wondering if there have been any important results produced through the use of parallel computing.

Yes the benefits of Large Projects, using Parallel Computing is phenominal, there are alot of projects currently being worked on, the cost to use a Super Computer is out of this world, Good Luck and Google your question, the sites will pop up..
