should people be profiting from the death of our troops, and then claim to support them?.........i suppose if you drive a SUV and invest in Exxon, then you really are supporting the troops because youve given the troops long term job security,,,,,if they dont die.

No one is profiting from the death of US troops except our enemies.

Being a capitalist does not mean you cant have limits on what you invest in. You dont have to sell your soul for a profit, although most do. But get the theory of investing in oil is wrong because our troops are dying in a war that was suppose to secure our future oil supply out of your head, we are there for many reasons but securing a future oil supply is high on the list. Unless we come up with a new fuel oil is our future. Be prepared if the ethonol plants produce enough fuel for our country that the price of crude will drop, it will, then in turn will destroy the ethonol industry and oil will be back in demand at high prices again. Unless we take over the middleeast and steal their oil, it will always be a good investment.

While the two issues are related because of the war, they are really separate. With the troops, as in Vietnam, we proved well that we love the war because of the booming fortunes of companies such as Bell Helicopters, Halliburton, DuPont, etc etc. and the deaths of 54,000 men means little. I was in Vietnam for seven years and I saw the mis-use and the waste of both men and supplies...to what good? The oil issue is different...few people understand the tremendous investments needed to create an oil rig, and the ancillary services and while Exxon and BP certainly urge the US to protect their investments, they are not dependent on just the Middle East to fill your gas tank. I work for the 3rd largest oil company in the world (a Chinese Company) and the pressure to locate and obtain oil and gas is very great....but not only from the Middle East. America uses 25% of the world's oil resouce production yearly...from the North Sea, Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, etc...and some from the Middle East.

Because if you think it's all about oil ask yourself this. Why aren't we using all the troops just to guard the pipelines and refineries? We have more than enough troops over there to do just that.
