How can we tell?

Whatever the truth of the matter, Chelsea's statement is quite out of order.

They are objecting that Gallas has after leaving continued to make statements attacking their manager Mourhino. If that is so they should take the matter up either through the football authorities or the law. Even if true, I think that a reasonable person would take Chelsea's statement as intended to injure Gallas' professional reputation. I am not a lawyer, but from past employment experience such a statement may have implications in relation to criminal as well as civil law. Gallas would be wise to seek urgent advice from a lawyer actively practising in the British courts.

He scored an own goal by moving to Arsenal, all these footballers say they want to move to a team that will win trophies, so the bufoon leaves the team that is winning trophies to a team in decline that have sold 2 of their best players over the last 2 years...great teams rarely do that.
I say we go back to the older days of football 10-15 years ago when all the players were British...these mercenaries are here for the money, with one or two exceptions. We still won as many if not more Euro trophys in those days with British teams, and our national team is no better than the 1990 world cup team, in fact they are worse, but they are given higher profiles to make them appear better.
Keep thre money in England, and make em all work for it, just like the everyday man in the street has to

Would you do that if you were William Gallas?. It's like threatening to burn down your boss's house if the fires you and thereafter destroying your carrer forever. I believe its all media conjectures to improve circulation. They do it all the time.

As a Man City fan I can picture the scene - he has 3 own goals disallowed and then gets substituted before he has the chance to get himself sent off.

Definitely not and Chelsea are succeeding in making absolute fools of themselves. Somehow the statement seems to me to be a reflection of Mourinho- a spoilt little boy who cries when he doesn't get his own way.
