Gore Vidal, because he has always said what he wanted and didn't worry about who would like him. He has criticized every administration regardless of the party they represented. He is extremely well read, and is also a historian of merit.Mr. Vidal is a true American because he cares about this country and is sick of the BS we hear every single day.

Politics aside, my favorite conservative is Donald Rumsfeld - I think the guy is a riot, no pun intended, and would be great at a dinner party.
My favorite liberal, personality-wise, I guess might be John Edwards - upbeat, genial, lots of interesting stories.

Al Franken and Ben Stein.
Franken gets his points across with humor and it's a nice change from the scare tactics of some of his competitors.
Stein's dry sense of humor and no bs way of telling you something is refreshing.
