You haven't lost hope, your focus has shifted to allow your mind to clear.

You don't. Plenty of people find the things they're searching for. If you're actively searching for something, you've got a much better chance of finding it.
I, for one, often find the things i'm searching for. Perhaps i'm just better at looking for them?

The reason for that is that you're looking for a companion incorrectly. In trying so hard, one can drive away potential mates rather than attracting them.
The best way to find a companion is to not try too hard; people are attracted to people naturally. It's just a matter of patience and diligence.

I think that's why I don't let things bother me - I know that whatever it is will sort itself out (plus I'm a christian so I am even lazier when it comes to emotional / life stuff)
