Get your landlord to call in an exterminator and make sure they know you have an infant. You may need to go stay at a relative or a friends house for a few days. I am very clean and I had roaches in one of my apartments because the other people were filthy. I moved out because it freaked me out, I hate those things, so disgusting. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Keep your apartment clean, take out trash, do not leave any food around and start looking for a new place if you can afford it. My father owned an exterminating company and even he could not permanently get rid of mine because I could not make the other tenants in the building adhere to keeping a clean home. I know why you are worried. I kept thinking they would get into my son's ears or mouth when he was sleeping. It is so creepy just to think about it. Congrats on the baby and good luck.

put out some sugar, cornmeal and boric acid in jar lids away from where the baby might crawl. They will take it back to their nests and feed it to their young. Also clean your house every day until you notice that there aren't as many as there was. If you live under a lot of trees you might have wood roaches. THey are unually large. Use the same approach. Clean , don't leave food or garbage and animal food out. I get roaches every once in a while it usually happens when a new piece of furniture comes into the house. Warehouses are known to have roaches.

Don't not let a exterminator spray, that could be harmful to the baby. Make sure all trash is up and food is put away. Get you some the Roach gel that comes in a dispenser that looks like a big syringe. Put it in the high traffic areas and they'll be gone in no time.

This isn't a real solution. . .but have you tried getting a dog or cat? When I was living abroad, all of a sudden we got roaches in our apartment when we never had them before. The reason was that the neighbor got a dog so the roaches decided to move. I'm not sure if it really works but we all of our friends thought for sure that was the reason!

You should use Combat Roach Gel that stuff works great. I know its hard to keep your home spotless with a lil one but you need to keep your home as clean as possible and use the roach gel it will make them bugs go away. The last thing you want is a roach going in your babies ear. Just becareful.

If you rent call your landlord and have him spray. If he won't do anything call an exterminator yourself (also applies if you own your townhouse). Roaches can carry diseases.

If the other units are infected in your building, you are going to have an ongoing problem unless all units are done. They only leave and go to the next unit and then when the spray wears off they come back. So talk to your neighbors.

Go to Home Depot and buy some Roach Motels and other roach traps. If that doesn't work you will have to call an exterminator. Tell them that you need a child safe treatment.

From experience, raoches love beer! YOu can set up a trap that consist of a cup with vaseline around the edges and beer at the bottom of the cup. You can put the cup of beer in a dark place overnight and then in the morning, you can spray the unsuspecting critters with roach spray.

if you want to stay away from toxic chemical pesticides near your child, try setting out a few dishes (jar lids) containing a 50/50 mixture of sugar and boric acid. The sugar attracts the bugs, the boric acid kills them once ingested. Works like a charm. After about a week or so, problem eliminated.
