It could be asthama or an upper respitory problem. My son has always coughed a lot and it stems from allergies. Take him to the doctor and they will be able to help you and possibly put him on some sort of medication

my ten wk old coughs a lot too. I took her to the doctor and he said she is fine, just watch out for wheezing esp. in the lungs. Some babies just cough to clear their throats, and some more than others.

It could be anything. Get your baby checked out. But DONT worry. Just think about all the rubbish your baby swallowed on its way into the world...I'd be a bit chesty too. Besides...if anything where seriously wrong your health visitor would have picked it up.

Take him in. If he's in daycare, he's probably got what some sitters call "kennel cough." Same concept as the puppy kennels, but for babies. Each child carries different germs and they spread them around. Since your little one is so young, his immune system isn't developed enough to fight off everyday germs. Good luck!!

coughing doesn't mean asthma.
Put your ear against baby's back, around the lung area, see if you can hear clear rhythmic breathing. If you hear wheezing, then it could be asthma.
Is he coughing, or choking from milk/saliva? If you are unsure, take him to see his pediatrician.
