That if you are in a library and you stand up and start waving your arms and screaming people just look at you. Do it on an Airplane though and everyone else joins in!

Its a fear factor thing..libraries arent that scary less your scared of books...in that case you should wonder what you are doing in the library in the first place...but ALOT of people are scared of flying...and when your 10,000 ft up in the air and can crash any second you kinda end up feeling like something bad is happening when someone starts to yell and wave their arms on a plane...its just is

Well, it is kinda unusual behaviour in a library (unless you're reading Shakespeare in which case it's to be expected) but on an airplane people are already on the edge of panic worrying about terrorists and engine failure etc so if one person starts it's a good excuse to give vent to their hysteria!

Because people are not sure if they want to join in or not. On planes they are all bord and in librarys they go because they choose to. I think you should test this in more areas, like supermackets, forests, the bakers, the BBC car park, America, your house, a disco and the cinema!

You were either probably browsing at the psychology/mental health section. Either that or the theater/drama one.......Not to everybody 's taste !

Or.............did you forget to bring back the 10+ books and had to pay 50 pounds in fine because you were on holiday ?-).

Everybody gets mental in a plane anyway (annoying neighbours, kids screaming, no smoking allowed, downgraded to the lowest class, shitty food, neighbours wanting to chat or just recline on you; frankly enough to drive anyone batty !).....and hoping to perhaps appear on that famous TV show ?? Quite an acceptable behaviour in this case in my view :-)

Maybe the people on the airplane feel like something bad is going to happen so they follow in to assure that they'll survive whatever's going to happen...

Honestly, I don't know...LOL

If you do that in a library, you first have to say 'All together now'.

True, but have you ever tried it in a Monastery? No one joins in and hardly anyone looks at you.
