I'm going to pay real close attention to what the challenger has to offer. If he/she (a) sounds intelligent (b) has some ideas (as opposed to simply saying what the incumbent or Bush or whoever has done wrong) (c) seems knowledgeable about the issues (d) gives the impression that they care about our district and the people in it (e) has a background that seems compatible with public service -- but is not necessarily a career politician (f) seems trustworthy, then he/she will probably get my vote.
Note, though, that my list of criteria is going to be pretty difficult to pull off. Because experience in CongressDOES make a difference as far as how much you can get done (its unfortunate but true), I won't have a problem voting for an incumbent I don't care for that much if the challenger doesn't seem to be up to the job, either. On the other hand, in a race between equals, I'd just as soon put some new blood in office and see what happens.
(By the way, you'll notice party affiliation is NOT a criteria. I'm going with the person, not the party. Yeah, kind of pie in the sky thinking, but frankly I'm not impressed with the democratic or republican parties. What's left but the candidate as an individual?)
Great question!

I really don't think that many will give the GOP AKA current congressional incumbant will get many votes. And the dems will easy take over.
And for 2008
I feel Ms Clinton did a great job in her last 8 years in office and I think she will do a better job in her next 8 years. She already knows the ins and outs of the job so this will make it easier for her to get things lined up the way she needs them to achieve her goals.

I will vote for the Democratic challenger. the Republican incumbant has posed as a moderate but his voting record shows that he's just a puppet of the neocons.

congress is a failure.
do the research......all they care about is remaining in office. there is a 98% reelection of incumbants simply because they have the resources to campaign and advertise. challengers cannot compete simply because of money. ive had it with congress and will vote against ANY that support the iraq war

I will vote Democratic. They are more in line with the direction I'd like to see America going.
