Bought a basket on ebay and the basket really smells of smoke. What can I use to get rid of the smell?

Here's a couple of tips from eHow.com:

"The best odor removal/deodorizer/sanitizer is Nok-Out. It neutralizes the odor at the molecular level."

"Place containers of coffee randomly in the area that has an odor." (In your case, maybe put them in a liner in the basket, then seal it for a while. Your favorite potpourri would probably work well, also. Then you could just open it up and use it later.)

I'd be a bit leery of wiping the basket with anything wet -- it may raise the grain of the wood on the basket, which may not return to normal again, so you want to be careful of things like vinegar or lemon juice. Good luck and hope it works!!

I would try citrus magic from walmart. That is a great odor neutralizer and it smells good. I don't know if it has any advice on it about using on wood, but check into it. Also maybe wipe the basket down with a warm, wet rag dipped in vinegar.

Actually charcoal works very well at absorbing smells and not leaving new ones.
