Hi,
there are plenty of recovery programs that can restore deleted and formatted hard drives... (zeroassumption, getdataback, etc) Google them to find out.. if you are talking about yahoo messenger archives then Check out WackyB-Archive Viewer:

Lets you view/search/save/print yahoo messenger archives under any ID with extra features to aid archive recovery.
If you find any .dat files then drag'n'drop them into the viewer to see if they can be read
(Ensure your archives are switched on Ctrl-Shift-P, select Archive, select Save all of my messages)

if you never saved the message archive you cant formeting all pc will clean everything out if you have not format the hard drive yet go to program files yahoo folder messenger folder and back up the profiles folder in there to a cd (rw) disk

Unlessed you backed up your mail you can't.
You can normally backup your email by clicking File>Import Export, and follow the instructions to "Export" your emails to a "pst" file, you would normally select your inbox (and folders if you want) and select a location to save to.
In future formats, save your mail (export) to maybe cd or another drive / partition or even a usb key.

you can't it's gone forever.
you should have made backup copies of all of your personal files before you formatted your hard drive. this is why we recommend that you have a professional format your drive. trying to save money only causes you problems.
