I want to learn to play guitar. The thing is, my husband can teach me, but he's not very patient. Is there a web site that can give me some basics as far as comprehension of playing, reading music and tab....and so on, so that I can come to him at least somewhat educated and not completly clueless? Any help is appriciated! Thanks.

If your husband can teach you, but he's not very patient, try to have patience with him. I think in the end you will both have more patience, with one another, and "you" will have learned the art of playing the guitar, which is one of the hardest instruments to learn to play. Have confidence in your husbands knowledge, and let him guide you. If you feel, he's getting frustrated, remember that it comes easy for him, because he's already accomplished at it, and sometimes the instructor forgets that they too were once students. I wouldn't suggest trying to learn somewhere else if he is willing to teach you, because he will probably undue what you have learned to teach you the way he sees fit for the student. Put your trust, and patience in him, and remember that you want to learn. Learning to play does not happen over night, it takes years of practice.

Taking lessons or practicing for learning Guitar or a mater of fact any instrumental music from a website will not be useful. You should have train under an able person to teach you the same so that you know every thing theoretically and practically.
After achieving certain level you can take the help of your husband or continue with a senior tutor only.
There are lot of web-sites offering you leas sons as well as software for this and the following sites are to name a few. You can try a visit.

www.workshoplive.com

if you have no idea where to get started, I'd say please go get old fashioned in person guitar lessons, those are the best. Im
classicaly trained on the clarinet and and ive mastered the alto
saxiphone, but i also play the bass guitar and piano for fun
i picked the bass b/c i wanted to learn bass clef and all those
instruments read treble clef.
ive been taling lessons since i was 8 but its never too late to learn. I say, take the lessons and dont tell him as a surprise and
then all of a sudden be like "oh honey, wanna hear something?"
and rock out with you **** out. It'll impress him 4 sure.
have fun!

If he can teach you harmonic tuning of your instrument and some basic fingering methods. (anyone can manage to help you with that)
Then... after you have a good understanding and practice syncopation and get your fingering down and maybe a few scales? Then you can teach yourself from any magazine or tabliture available.
I learned to read music from a teacher but learned songs from Guitar magazine after mastering the boring bits by nothing more than practice and repetition. I taught myself flight of the bumblebee and the intro from crazy on you by reading the tabs in guitar magazine... and that is nothing to sneeze at!

Well if you are learning the guitar (Especially the electric guitar) then you only really need to learn tab at this point.
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ is good as it has loads of tabs and lessons. Get your husband to teach you the basics then you can practice on your own.

I still like the idea of going to the library and getting books on guitar. I taught myself quickly the basics and moved on with guitar magazines.
