I hate picking up dead mice from a trap. The last one I caught in a trap was still alive. It wasn't his head in the trap, it was his foot so he was still alive.

Like most animals, they do not like smoke. As for getting rid of mice you have caught in a trap, get yourself a pair of rubber dishwahsing gloves to put on when you empty the traps.

Good luck with your mouse problem.

mice do not like moth balls. And as gross as this may sound...they do not like the smell of other dead mice. I live out in the middle of no-where on a farm in an old home. If you do happen to catch a mouse in a trap...and it's messy...don't clean off the trap. Let it dry out, then set another trp else where. They can smell the death, so they tend to stay away! Also, Vector makes a plastic trap...looks like a giaint cloth pin. You don't have to touch the mouse or any thing to release it!

Mice don't much care for the smell of bleach, I imagine.

Get some sticky traps - much more effective than the spring traps.

snowflake, I just want to say that it is wise to look at a mouse trap as disposable. Never touch the contaminated one without a bag, then throw out the entire thing. Not good to reuse.

Forget the smell, use sound.
Get one of them plug- in things that make noise in the wiring.. works great for me. I paid 25.00 for my plug-in and was the best investment.
as for smell, i have used the smell of 'peppermint essence' with success.

cat litter... They stay away because they think there is a cat around. It works if your having problems with chipmunks too.
