A. False - segregation was the legitimized practice of seperating the races ex: ***** schools/white schools; back-of-the-bus policy; seperate water fountains; negroes served at public restaurants only from the kitchen back door/whites ate in the restaurant; etc.
Emancipation Proclamation issued by A. Lincoln during the Civil War legally emancipated or freed slaves from their owners. However; the Confederacy at the time of this proclamation did not recognize the authority of the Union; therefore, this was more of a strategic military move on the part of Lincoln than anything else.
